What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over a hundred natural chemical compounds found in the flower of the Cannabis Sativa plant. Cannabis Sativa has been used for thousands of years and has been anecdotally touted over the centuries as a safe, non-addictive substance with a multitude of medicinal benefits. Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are finally being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. In fact in June of 2018 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognized cannabidiol as a medicine by approving Epidiolex, an almost pure pharmaceutical CBD formulation, as a treatment for two severe pediatric seizure disorders, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. According to the Mayo Clinic, CBD is currently also being studied as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and anxiety.

CBD is closely related to another important medicinally active phytocannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that causes the high that cannabis is famous for.

Unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel “stoned” or intoxicated. That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body. Also unlike the THC found in cannabis, CBD manufactured from the hemp plant which contains less than 0.3% of THC, is Federally legal and readily available in the United States.

What is Delta-9-THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol)?
Delta-9-THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol) is one of the 100+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) and produces the characteristic “high” most often associated with consuming cannabis.

Delta-9-THC interacts with our endocannabinoid system (ECS) by releasing dopamine into the brain. Delta-9-THC’s psychoactive properties can cause feelings of relaxation, euphoria, and can improve the enjoyment of social activities. Delta-9-THC is also used for pain management, nausea, and appetite stimulation.

Can CBD or Delta-8-THC products be detected by a drug test
Possibly. CBD isolate products do not contain any THC and will generally not be detected by drug tests. Full spectrum CBD, as well as Delta -8 products however can legally contain up to 0.3% Delta-9-THC by dry weight (Federal Legal Limit), which studies have shown is enough to cause confirmed positive results when screening urine and blood specimens. Accordingly, if you are subject to any form of employment drug testing or screening, we recommend (as does the United States Armed Services) that you DO NOT take these products before consulting with your healthcare practitioner, drug screening testing company or employer.
What is Delta 8?
Delta 8 is a federally legal, hemp derived cannabinoid with many similar properties to the cannabis plant’s Delta 9 THC. Like other cannabinoids, it interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system – specifically
the CB1 receptor of the nervous system. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), one big difference between Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC, is that Delta-8, while still somewhat psychoactive, will produce a less intense and milder “high” than Delta-9 THC will. Because of this, many people refer to Delta-8 as “cannabis lite”.
Is CBD Legal?
Yes. It’s federally legal in all 50 states with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill.
Is Delta-8-THC Legal?
Yes. Delta-8 THC is federally legal with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. Some States however have legal restrictions on Delta 8 products: AK, AZ, AR, CO, DE, ID, IA, MT, NV, ND, RI, UT, VT. have their own laws restricting or prohibiting Delta-8 in some way. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR STATE/LOCAL LAWS BEFORE ordering any Delta 8 products.
Is CBD safe for pets?
In an article titled Cannabis in Veterinary Medicine – A Critical Review, four Vets from Colorado and California stated that they attempted to “provide the veterinary community with a concise, understandable and clinically relevant review of cannabis medicine in companion animals”.

According to the authors, CBD has “very few side effects and a wide margin of safety in veterinary patients” and the compound has been shown to have “multiple therapeutic benefits including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antineoplastic, anxiolytic, and anticonvulsant properties.”
